Moshi, Tanzania – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura has urged officers of the Forensic Science Commission to enhance their professional skills and embrace modern technology in addressing increasingly sophisticated forms of crime.

Speaking during the opening of a capacity-building workshop for commission officers at the Tanzania Police School in Moshi on June 1, 2026, IGP Wambura said advancements in science and technology have transformed the nature of criminal activities, making it essential for investigators to acquire modern skills in evidence collection and analysis to support the delivery of justice.

He commended the commission's officers for their efforts in responding to crime scenes, collecting evidence, and supporting scientific investigations. Wambura emphasized that every crime leaves behind evidence that can help identify perpetrators, urging officers to maintain professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning in order to strengthen performance and boost public confidence in the criminal justice system.

The Police Chief further noted that the Tanzania Police Force continues to invest in training and advanced technologies, including DNA analysis, digital forensics, and other scientific investigative techniques. He said these investments are aimed at strengthening the commission’s capacity to tackle cybercrime, transnational crime, and other offences that require evidence-based scientific investigations.

IGP Wambura also stressed that the evidence collected by forensic experts plays a crucial role in securing justice for victims, holding offenders accountable, and enhancing public trust in the police force and the wider criminal justice system. He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills gained during the workshop would contribute to positive changes in the performance of forensic investigators across the country.
